Scholarship Application FAQ's PDF Print E-mail

Where do I turn in my application?
Starting in 2010, all applicants, both high school graduating seniors and students who are currently attending college, must turn in applications to the Lauzier Foundation office via mail or hand delivery.  Please view the appropriate application form for instructions on submitting the application.

Who should write my recommendations?

Recommendations should come from an authority figure who is currently involved in your life.  Recycled recommendations from past years are unacceptable as are recommendations from relatives or peers.

I live outside of Grant County but attend a Grant County high school.  Am I eligible to apply?
No.  Applicants must reside in Grant County for at least two years prior to graduating from a Grant County high school in order to meet the eligibility requirement.

Is it acceptable to handwrite my application?
No, applications must be typed.  Handwritten applications are removed from the selection process.

What happens if I do not include a transcript, personal statement, or recommendations as requested?

Applications that are missing any portion of the requested information are considered incomplete.  Incomplete applications are removed from the selection process.

Students currently attending college must submit a current sealed official transcript issued by the college.  This can take up to several weeks.  Please plan accordingly.  Do not have the college mail your sealed official transcript to the Paul Lauzier Foundation office separately.  The sealed official transcript must be included with the application, personal statement, and recommendations.

If a student has transferred schools, please provide the most current official transcript and unofficial copies from any other schools previously attended.

Is it okay to turn my application in after the deadline?
No.  Late and/or incomplete applications are quickly removed from the selection process.  If you miss the deadline or turn in an incomplete application, you may reapply during the next academic year.  Hundreds of applications are received each year.  The Paul Lauzier Scholarship Foundation is looking for applicants who follow directions and submit a quality application in a timely manner.

Are part-time students eligible for a Lauzier Scholarship?
No, students must attend college full-time.

I work for a family business but do not get paid.  Does that count as employment?
Yes.  Explain the duties you perform for your family business and indicate how many hours per week you work.

Are students obtaining graduate degrees eligible to apply (including law school, medical school, vet school, pharmacy school etc.)?

Yes.  Graduate students must attend school on a full-time basis within the State of Washington.

I am a high school senior attending Running Start.  Which application should I fill out?
Please complete the “High School Student” application.  Include both high school and college transcripts.

I currently attend college out-of-state, but plan to transfer to a college within the State of Washington.  Can I apply?
Yes, as long as you are a past graduate of a Grant County high school who resided in Grant County for at least two years prior to high school graduation.  Indicate which school you plan to attend during the upcoming academic year.  Be sure to include your most current official transcript and unofficial transcripts from any other colleges previously attended.

I am a Grant County resident and a past graduate of a Grant County high school, but have taken time off before attending college.  Which application should I fill out?
If you have been out of high school for a period of time and plan to go back to school, please complete the “College Student” application form.  The “High School Student” form is only for graduating seniors.

Please include a high school transcript if you have never attended college or vocational school.  If at some point in the past you attended college or vocational school, please follow the instructions regarding transcripts on the instruction sheet of the application.

Could I use the Lauzier Scholarship for my personal expenses?
No, the Lauzier Scholarship covers direct educational expenses only.  The money is deposited into a student account at the college.  Funds will not be released to students for personal expenses under any circumstances.
